Te Wāhi Toi/The Arts Place exists to connect the creative community of Queenstown and Wānaka with audiences, students, teachers, spaces and each other. We are a not-for-profit organisation powered by Three Lakes Cultural Trust and inspired by local arts and culture.
In this course over 6 weeks, participants will learn the basic principles of throwing an object on the wheel: how to wedge clay, centre and open, throw a cylinder, throw a bowl, how to trim, and basic glaze application. This class is ideally suited for beginner throwers or those who have had limited experience with throwing but looking to get more time on the wheel and learn new techniques.
The course includes clay, bisque and glaze firings and you will aim to have approx. 4 finished pieces to take home.
What to bring: An old towel and/or apron
