Tearing Up the Treaty – Wānaka Festival of Colour

The Treaty of Waitangi has been under sustained fire over the last year. Past festivals have featured speakers like Jim Bolger, Chris Finlayson and Moana Jackson who have all underscored the Treaty’s vital role and the strengths it has brought to our country. So what are the new attacks all about? And how have people responded?

Dame Anne Salmond is a Distinguished Professor at Auckland University, an anthropologist and historian. She was New Zealander of the Year in 2013 and in 2020 awarded our highest honour, the Order of New Zealand.

Kassie Hartendorp (Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) is the Director for the progressive, people-powered organisation, ActionStation. She currently leads their campaigns for Te Tiriti justice.

On as part of the Wānaka Festival of Colour.
