Margaret Robertson MBE Brings Scottish Fiddle to Arrowtown!
Renowned Scottish fiddle teacher and performer Margaret Robertson MBE is bringing the traditions of Scottish and Shetland fiddle music to Arrowtown this October.
Learn Scottish fiddle tunes the traditional way - entirely by ear, with sheet music provided after the session. Thanks to funding from the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Traditional Arts Program, this workshop is 100% free of charge!
There are two timeslots to choose from depending on your level: 10.30am-1pm (starter by ear) or 2pm-4.30pm (skilled by ear).
With over 40 years’ teaching experience, Margaret leads the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Fiddlers and Hjaltibonhoga International Fiddle Community, and founded the Tarland Fiddle Gathering. Her contribution to Scottish music was recognised with an MBE in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Margaret will also teach workshops in Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill, Arrowtown, Greymouth, Nelson, Wellington and Auckland.
