On Saturday, 15th March 2025, the Queenstown Event Centre will transform into a vibrant hub of cultural celebration as the Queenstown Multicultural Festival 2025 comes to life. This much-anticipated annual event is a heartfelt tribute to the incredible diversity of Queenstown Lakes District, showcasing the rich traditions, talents, and cuisines of the many cultures that call the region home.

Born from a vision to foster inclusivity and unity, the festival celebrates what makes each culture unique while creating a platform for connection and understanding. Through live performances, delicious international cuisine, interactive workshops, and cultural displays, the festival offers something for everyone. Whether you're captivated by traditional music and dance, eager to try global flavors, or curious to learn new crafts, this family-friendly event promises a day full of discovery, connection, and joy.

Behind the scenes, the festival is a testament to the power of community collaboration. From the Queenstown Lakes District Council’s support and guidance to the dedication of local Māori, Pasifika, and ethnic community groups, the event is made possible through collective effort. Groups such as Mana Tāhuna, Japanese Family Society of Queenstown, and Latinos for NZ are just a few of the many communities whose contributions ensure the event is both authentic and inclusive. Local businesses, sponsors, and Te Atamira, Queenstown’s cultural arts hub, also play crucial roles in bringing this celebration to life.

Planning for the festival begins months in advance, involving everything from securing performers and curating food vendors to coordinating logistics and building partnerships. The commitment of volunteers, community leaders, and performers is the heartbeat of the event, ensuring every detail comes together seamlessly. Last year’s festival touched many hearts, with attendees moved to tears by the familiarity of sights, sounds, and tastes from their homelands, making this event a powerful reminder of belonging and connection.

This year’s festival will once again feature an array of international food stalls, cultural performances, and interactive workshops, along with a dedicated Kids Zone for younger attendees. As the festival lineup continues to be finalized, organizers are confident it will reflect the vibrant spirit of Queenstown’s diverse community.

If funding was endless, the festival team dreams of expanding the event to include parades, nighttime storytelling sessions, and even a week-long celebration of culture. The ultimate vision includes a dedicated Multicultural Community Hub—a welcoming space for learning, sharing, and connecting across cultures.

For now, the Queenstown Multicultural Festival remains a shining example of what can be achieved when a community comes together to celebrate its differences and find strength in unity.

Mark your calendars, bring your loved ones, and join us on 15th March 2025 for a day that will inspire and delight.
