We are extremely lucky to have Rinkha gracing the stage again after a cracking sell-out show last season!

Mixing heartfelt lyrics with the wild ambition to out-rap everyone.

Spiritual at it's core my music is - a story of overcoming trauma, the dogged pursuit of becoming the best you can be and following your dreams despite adversity.
Willfully truthful with an undeniably positive edge.

Blessed with an otherworldly cool mother, I was inspired from an early age by the likes of The Kinks, Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground, Sade, Madonna, Pearl Jam, Michael Jackson and many many others, the seed of music was planted deep within me.

Certainly something of a late bloomer, it's taken many years of tending the soil of my psyche and body to be in a place where survival is not the only aim and I have begun the process of making music in earnest.

The lyrics are survival codes, a cryptic instruction manual for my own healing and my most effective method for processing the world around me.

A rapper by craft and guitarist by sheer will (having severed the nerves and tendons in my left hand as an 11 year old girl by upset accident) the process of making music has not been an easy one but, I love it more than I can ever say and I'm so grateful to every artist who has opened their heart, bared their soul and shared their mind in this often cruel world because you never know what little kid - desperately trying to find hope and connection might hear you.

Being a child saved by music, this is my first semi-humble, completely self-made offering to the thing that has always been with me.

I come from Dublin, a wildly beautiful, tough and delicate city that oozes creativity.
Dublin shaped me and Aotearoa gave me space to grow.

Dublin, a city, happens to be in Eire. The land my bones are from.
That place, is more myth and legend than it is solid matter and rightly so. Imagination and love glimmer while they wait for you in the spheres of dew on the blades of grass at dawn and the fairies laugh at you from the hedges.
Profoundly mystical, organic, earthy, a glistening emerald of culture and heritage.
Full of love and sorrow, although love always seems to tip the scales, it could be that ‘having the craic’ is on it's side...

Influences..
Inspired by but not yet close to:
The Kinks, Tupac, KRS-One, The Velvet Underground, The Smiths, System of a Down, Portishead, Audio Slave, Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder, MF DOOM, Erykah Badu, Lauren Hill, Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, J Cole, Jill Scott Heron, Sade, Jimi Hendrix, Kevin Parker (Tame Impala), Tyler The Creator, King Krule, Bricknasty, Sinead O'Connor, Sampha, Spud Gun, Meltybrains?, Gilla Band, Rebel Pheonix, G.I, IDLES, Yard Act... among many many others.

My singular most influential moment with music was when: As I was lying in a ball on my bathroom floor, broken, for reasons I couldn't quite piece together, I heard Tupac play from my laptop left on autoplay in my room and he said on the track 'Lil Homies' - "Mad at the world ‘cos you came from a broken home".

He said something so succinct and true to me it changed my whole perspective on life, it was a key in the locked door of my awareness of myself that no teacher, friend or counsellor had ever expressed. It allowed me to see my life and how I had been interfacing with the world from a sudden vantage point. How my attitude and mindset was affecting my perspective on everything... I felt so seen, so understood... by a dead black man from America that the systems of control would have you believe you (a little white girl) would have nothing in common with, yet, there we were, across oceans and lifetimes, having a conversation that lifted me up off the ground and gave me purpose.

In that moment I knew I would dedicate my life to music

"When I performed my first spoken word piece 3 years ago, I had all but forgotten my propensity for rhyming as a child. My love for words and music wasn't encouraged as anything beyond a 'cute hobby', and immersed in an achievement oriented culture, I taught myself to consider what was expected of me as the right path.

3 countries and 3 decades later, the emotional toll of the pandemic brought the need to express poetically again, and I was lucky to have other creative souls around me who received this with open hearts and steady support.

An overthinker from early years, I finally reconciled with my identity as words fell onto pages and into melodies. Yes, you'll hear pain, struggle and trauma, but I hope you'll also hear the joy I am learning to accept more and more with each passing day."
